Personal Life Story Of Vella Lower

I grew up on a farm.  My family did not attend church.  Occasionally I attended Vacation Bible School, Sunday School, or church services with school friends. A faithful servant, my grandmother, was a large influence for me.

I married, had a family, and randomly attended church.  After a divorce our daughter and her two children came to live with us.  Along with her we began to attend church regularly with an emptiness and yearning to know more about Christ.  We studied and read His word faithfully.  At the age of 44,

I believed and repented of my sins.  I was baptized by immersion and became a born-again Christian, completely cleansed--a new creation, saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus.

I am a sincere saint of the Lord through Jesus Christ my Savior.

I am continuing to grow.  Being human I am still guilty of sin.  But I pray faithfully for forgiveness.  I study much, pray faithfully, meditate to receive instruction from God and serve Him in many ways.  It is a complete joy to attend church to learn more of His Word and be with brothers and sisters in Christ.  All praises and glory are for Him, to honor Him, and that all things are pleasing in His sight.

If you would like to know you're on your way to heaven, follow the steps as outlined in Billy Graham's "Steps to Peace With God."

Step 1 - God's Purpose - God loves you and wants you to live in peace with Him and to receive eternal life.  ". . . we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." - Romans 5:1.  ". . . the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." - Romans 6:23b

Step 2 - Our Problem - Our sin separates us from God.  "But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear." - Isaiah 59:2.

Step 3 - God's Remedy - Jesus Christ is the only answer to this problem of separation from God.  He died on the cross and rose from the grave to pay the penalty for our sin--completely bridging the gap between us and God.  "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." - Acts 4:12.

Step 4 - Our Response - We can receive Jesus Christ when we believe in His message and trust in Him alone to save us.  "All the prophets testify about Him that every one who believes in Him (Jesus Christ) receives forgiveness of sins through His name." - Acts 10:43.

How to Receive Christ:

1) Admit your need (I am a sinner.)

2) Be willing to turn from your sins (repent).

3) Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.

4) Through prayer invite Jesus to come into and control your life through the Holy Spirit.
